About the PILOT Program
The PILOT Program equips young business people with the leadership skills necessary to thrive in international settings. This one- to two-year, team-focused, leadership-training program develops the character and ethical framework necessary to perform well on an international level.
PILOT is values-driven and curriculum-based. The program is organized into modules of internship-style work study designed to build the character of each young leader, and increase his or her capacity to balance tasks and relationships in a cross-cultural context.
The PILOT Modules of Study are based on PILOT’s Values. PILOT’s hands-on training includes the PILOT Internship and concludes with the participant’s Philosophy of International Leadership presentation.
The ultimate goal of every PILOT participant is to plan, establish, and develop a business over the duration of the program. With the constant mentoring of their leaders, participants study a curriculum written, designed, and updated by seasoned business people in the international field, and put this study into immediate action.
This holistic training takes place in the context of a team of six to 10 young business-minded leaders, led by business people experienced in the international market. It includes language learning, cultural adaptation, appropriate relationship development/community involvement, and other subjects.
Each PILOT team lives overseas for the duration of the program, learning the local language and culture, and implementing the fundamentals of international business practice. Each team is unique in how they approach, design, and implement its businesses, but all hold to the PILOT Values that define the program.
PILOT teams can experience pitfalls and setbacks in their business goals as the program progresses and they navigate a cross-cultural setting. The strength of the team, however, is that together, leaders and participants approach these pitfalls from a team perspective, pooling combined knowledge and unique backgrounds to find solutions.
Such experiences develop young business people who are tested and ready to succeed internationally.
